Spring 2025 Pattern Haul

Now that Joann’s is kaput and closed for good (still sad and a little bitter at the private equity folks but I will let over it sooner or later), I haven’t purchased any big four patterns from the last few seasons. Honestly lots of pretty things but nothing has jumped out at me as I must have it so I haven’t purchased anything from them. I have however indulged in a trip down old Big Four patterns from Etsy.

I must say Etsy is a guilty pleasure for finding some obscure pattern that you didn’t know you needed (even when you don’t really need it… as in ever) but its nice to have. Anyhow, I got some patterns from them and a few Indie patterns that have caught my eye and perfect for that day to day run around like a chicken with your head cut off getting stuff done and crossing things off the to-do list.

V9101 - This pattern is no longer sold on the Big Four website, so sad because it’s a tough one to find in the larger size range. Tried convincing a lady out in Australia to sell me her pattern but she wouldn’t budge, thankfully someone on Etsy put it up for sale so boom. Purchased. I love the V-neckline, the knit aspect to it and the flowy skirt.

Burda 8836 - Loved this pattern as soon as I saw it and I know it would be a great pattern for the summer using a rayon viscose or a cotton lawn.

Lisette B6358 - Our local pool is finally opening after a two year hiatus due to renovations. I can’t wait to jump in there and splash with my kids. Love the one piece from Lisette and double bonus she has a great blog with step by step pictures how to tackle this one. NO need to purchase fabric, I got plenty of fabric to make four swimsuits after I cleaned out my sewing room. I really need to get going on this!

Vogue 7275 - Talk about a time jump, I didn’t realize this pattern is 25 years old but yes it was released in 2000 so 25 it is. It can drink and already graduated college! All kidding aside, it looks like a great silhouette for my shape that has a rectangle shape… with little to no waist!

And then I went on an indie pattern shopping spree. I usually tend to buy patterns when there is a sale (Hello! Me Made May or when the designer releases a new pattern.

Hayes Dress from Chalk and Notch - its brand spankin’ new. You have a few options with this pattern as a dress, dress with an open back or separates.

Love the back on this dress!

True Bias Quinn Vest - Another brand new pattern with lots of options as a cropped vest, hip length vest, a mini dress above the knee and a much longer dress. Already got fabric from the stash to tackle this one!

Tessuti’s Alessi Bias Cut Dress - Such a simple siloutte but it lends itself to so many uses to be dressed up with a beautiful pair of shoes or perhaps shorten the length and wear it with a pair of summer sandals and a fun cardigan.

Last but not least I couldn’t pass up on the new Closet Core Patterns Claire Shorts! Love a good pair of shorts for the summer. Super quick and easy to make plus you don’t have the extended time fitting them. They are part of Closet Core Patterns Crew patterns so if you like these shorts don’t delay as a new pattern is released in June and well… you may not be able to get them.
