Sewing Plans for Spring
I feel sewing is so dependent on weather and what your wardrobe needs at given point in time. I have been designing a walking app which is 95% done and working well, but also trying to watch better what I have been eating. So sewing has been a little challenging as my size is changing. So trying to figure out what fits well, what I need and what I want, and perhaps thinking about what can I make now that I can adjust later on as I (fingers crossed) continue shrinking a little more.
So with allllll that in mind, here is what I’m thinking:
A. Tess Dress from Chalk and Notch - I actually did testing on this pattern and perfect to throw a jean jacket on cold days with a pair of calf boots or a pair of sandals. Super versatile if you move a lot like I do during the day. I got this mid weight knit fabric from Stone Mountain and Daughter Fabrics some time ago. It’s time to give this one a go.
B. Sophie Top from Atelier Jupe - This pattern JUST came out. Not even more than three months old at the time I’m writing this but I thought it was a great pattern (with some modifications of course!). First off, you only need 1.25 yards of fabric, two perfect for spring / summer weather and three its a quick make. I’m all for that! I actually made a muslin for this pattern and realized that I need to raise the armhole. I ordered fabric for this and if I have enough fabric to do a hem facing I will.
The next pattern comes included with the Sophie Top. So it’s a two for one special.
C. Ellis Shorts from Atelier Jupe - The shorts remind me a little of the Pietra Pants from Closet core but I love that there is no elastic in the back. They do have a side zipper which will should be fairly easy. Excited to make these and I got some leftover stretch twill from Joann’s to make them. BUT first like I did with the Sophie top, I will be making a muslin to make sure I’m happy with the adjustments.
D. Button down shirts - Right now thinking of working on two button down shirts. A camp shirt using Liberty of London Capel G fabric using Butterick 6924 and A clip dot white / cobalt blue fabric using Liesel and Co’s Classic Shirt.
I’m going to try the Liesel and Co’s button down again, and see if things look a little different after I make it make some more adjustments that I noticed I needed the last time, or perhaps get a smaller size based on my high bust.
So what are you making?
